Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7 start receiving Android Nougat update


  South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung has started rolling out Android Nougat update for its Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) smartphones in India. The update weighs around 1.4GB in size and is arriving with firmware version A520FXXUBQI5 and A720FXXU2BQI2, respectively.


The update brings features like improved notification panel, split screen, better battery optimisations, ability to reply from notifications and fresh Samsung UI, which is seen in its flagship smartphone Galaxy S8. The report also suggests that the device should have minimum charge of 50% and 2GB of free space in order to install the update.
                    
To recall, the company launched Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) in India in March this year. These are the first smartphones in the A series to come with IP68 rating which makes its dust and water resistant.
The duo also sport Samsung-specific features like Samsung Cloud storage and Secure Folder, which debuted with Galaxy Note 7 last year. The dual-SIM smartphones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) features a 5.7-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is backed by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.9GHz, clubbed with 3GB RAM. The smartphone includes 32GB inbuilt storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB using microSD card support. The device bears a 16MP autofocus rear camera along with a 16MP front-facing camera, both of which feature f/1.9 aperture. The smartphones also boasts of features like Food Mode and other filters

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) measures 156.8 x 77.6 x 7.9mm and is powered by a 3600mAh battery with fast-charging technology. Features such as fingerprint sensor and Samsung KNOX too are included. The connectivity options that come with the smartphone are 4G LTE Cat 6., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.2, ANT+, USB Type-C and NFC.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) has almost the same set of specifications as the Galaxy A7 (2017) except for the display, battery and size. It sports a 5.2-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution Super display, 3000mAh battery and measures 146.1x71.4x7.9mm.
